"Op" is the abbreviation for optical.
 

In the 60ties a new art genre called Op-Art was created

to develop and extend geometrical abstraction.
 

Pictures of optical illusions or of intense and changing appearance are the main attributes of Op-Art.

because of its changing appearance, which is caused

trough the influence and play of day and ambient light

as well as of its LED-backlighting.
